Hope for LaGonave
A constant theme of prayer for the Island of Haiti has concerned the political upheaval of the past three years. Last night, Jovenel Moise, the president of Haiti, was assassinated and his wife critically injured. This signifies a more extreme undermining of the safety and security of the whole country in days to come. Thankfully both our students and teachers are safe. Please join us in prayer for reform and a restoration of peace in Haiti. Please also pray for Jovenel Moise’s family and all those affected by his death. ... See MoreSee Less

Tropical Storm Laura is being blamed for killing least 11 people as it battered Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico over the weekend with high winds and flooding. At least nine people died in Haiti and two are missing, the Associated Press reported. Now that the rain and winds have subsided in Lagonave, our leadership team is assessing what damage our school buildings have sustained. Prayers are appreciated for those who have lost loved ones as well as the many with major losses to property. We will post an additional update as details unfold. Thank you. Hope for LaGonave
As our world keeps struggles with sickness that keeps spreading, we ask our readers to be especially aware of the areas that are particularly vulnerable. In Haiti, there have been 33 confirmed cases of COVID19 and 3 deaths. Many Haitians do not have the resources like shelter, medical expertise, or funds to be treated. We pray that the spread of this virus will be minimal. Thankfully, our Lord has thus far preserved LaGonave from COVID19. There have not been any diagnosed cases on the island and we are keeping in contact with our team to keep you up to date. Please join us in praying for the protection of our staff, students, and their families. We are administering food distributions to help the families who need it most. We thank all of those who have made us able to help the beloved people of LaGonave and ask for your continued support during this increasingly difficult time. God bless. ... See MoreSee Less

In light of the current challenges, take 27 seconds to enjoy the fun and beautiful voices of HFL students in the village of Gran Lagon. Haiti has now announced 8 confirmed cases of Coronavirus. The president has declared a state of emergency as airports, seaports, factories and schools are all closed. We will continue to provide salaries to each HFL team member in Lagonave as well as carry out food distributions to our most needy students in the days ahead. As we carry out these steps we very much appreciate your ongoing prayers and support. Join us in prayer for Haiti and the entire world at this challenging time. God is good, ALL the time. Hope for LaGonave
Yesterday the US State Department raised the travel advisory to a Level 4 for Haiti. Due to continued violence and kidnappings, Americans are advised not to travel to the country. Life on La Gonave island remains calm, but many of the people are struggling. The cost of living remains high and malnutrition issues are on the rise. Please pray for stability in this beautiful country. Pray for our local leadership, teachers, students, various partners in ministry there, along with all Haitian leaders within the challenged government. Thanks so much to those of you have partnered with us to help. Friend and child sponsor Cary Tobey captured these incredible images of the beauty that is La Gonave just a few days ago. Thank you Cary! - Kimbe fo Ayiti Cherie! 🇭🇹 ... See MoreSee Less
